5 Myths of Menopause Debunked! 0
Menopause is a time of change and it can be so confusing! There is so much information out there, as well as many stories, about what will happen to your body and your life. Menopause is a transition that may not be simple, but that doesn’t mean it has to be hard. Whether you are trying to make sense of your symptoms and their impact on your body or you are just beginning to learn more about what may lie ahead for you, Traveling Breeze wants to help ease some of the stress that comes with researching this topic by debunking some of the scary myths we often here about menopause.
Myth #1: Menopause typically begins at age 50.
Truth: The average age for women beginning menopause is age 52 but the truth is, premature menopause can start for you as early as your late 30’s and menopause can come as late as your 60’s, though this is less common. For most women, their menopause timeline lies more within the late forties to mid-50’s range.
Myth #2: You won't know you're in menopause until you have your first hot flash.
Truth: When that first hot flash hits, it is a good indication that you are in perimenopause. However, many women experience other symptoms first. It’s not uncommon to experience weight gain, cravings, irregular periods, fuzzy thinking, lower libido, hair loss, irritability, mood swings, depression and/or anxiety, or fatigue long before you ever feel that first hot flash. (And some women survive their perimenopausal journey without ever having a hot flash!)
Myth #3: Your sex life ends with menopause.
Truth: If your desire is decreasing, it is usually a symptom of hormonal imbalance. This imbalance can lead to physical changes such as vaginal dryness that can make sex uncomfortable (and when that happens, your libido may fall as well). It can also lead to emotional symptoms such as moodiness or depression than can make sex much less appealing. But those symptoms can be addressed so that you can maintain a healthy vibrant sex life through menopause and beyond!
Myth #4: Weight gain is inevitable.
Truth: Many women gain weight during this transition as their hormones fluctuate. The truth is it is very common, but it does not have to be inevitable. One of most effective things you can do to avoid weight gain is to eat well, as good nutrition will give your body the fuel it needs to heal and balance hormones naturally. Increasing protein while eliminating processed sugar and reducing carbohydrates will help to support your body in maintaining your weight.
Myth #5: The main symptoms of menopause are physical.
Truth: Emotional symptoms caused by hormonal imbalance can wreak just as much havoc in women during perimenopause as the physical symptoms can. If you feel tired, depressed, irritable or struggle with fuzzy memory, you are experiencing some of the emotional symptoms of hormonal imbalance. Progesterone drops can lead to irritability. Changes in estrogen and progesterone may cause mood swings. Memory, concentration, and mood are all impacted by our hormone levels.
Menopause is Not All Bad!
Although menopause does have it's downfalls, many women find that this time in their life actually helps them to discover a more independent and empowered side of themselves that they didn't know they were capable of. Traveling Breeze hopes that this information will help to relieve some stress of menopause and get you back to embracing the pleasures that menopause can bring!

4 Tips to Keep Hot Flashes at Bay 0
Ladies, let's face it. Whether you're already there, or your time is just around the corner - menopause is NOT a laughing matter. It's frustrating and uncomfortable and annoying to no end. From throwing open windows, to tearing layers off, to bundling back up because your body can't decide whether it's hot or cold - it's a constant battle that women have to face. However, Traveling Breeze knows that by better understanding the change your body is going through, you can be better prepared to face it confidently.
Hot flashes are the most common symptom of menopause and perimenopause. While the cause is unknown, hot flashes may be related to changes in circulation. Hot flashes happen when the blood vessels near the skin's surface dilate to cool. This causes the body to sweat to cool down. Some women also experience a rapid heart rate or chills. Unfortunately, you can't completely avoid hot flashes during menopause, but there are some things you can do to help prevent or lessen the severity of them. Traveling Breeze is here to share some triggers to avoid that may cause hot flashes, and ideas on how you can keep hot flashes at bay:
Prevent Hot Flashes by Avoiding these Triggers:
- Spicy foods
- Tight clothing
- Cigarette smoke
4 Ways to Keep Hot Flashes at Bay:
- Stay cool. Keep your bedroom cool at night by using a fan or opening windows to create good air circulation. Turn down the temperature to a cool, but comfortable setting.
- Meditate. Practice deep, slow abdominal breathing. When you relax, your heart rate slows. Every time your heart beats it sends a pressure wave through the arteries. When the pressure reaches the brain, the electrical activity changes - which controls your body's response to stress.
- Exercise. While it isn't proven, being overweight may be associated with having hot flashes during menopause. Regular exercise can help you maintain weight, relieve stress, and improve your mood.
- Cool down with a Breezy Buddy Fan-Cooling Pillow. Our premium fan-cooled pillow keeps you cool inside the house, laying poolside, camping, or just relaxing with the kids. It's lightweight and portable, so you can take it anywhere.
Whether you're experiencing the frustrating symptoms of menopause for the first time, or have been dealing with them for a while, we understand the struggles you face daily. That's why we strongly encourage getting our doctor recommended Breezy Buddy Fan-Cooling Pillow to help you beat your hot flashes quickly and comfortably.
